August 14, 2008 was the dark day in one of the Shakya families near Swyambhu, Kathmandu, Nepal. Miss Ratna Tara Shakya - a daughter, a sister, a teacher and most of all, an inspiration to all - left us all in the peaceful journey to eternity. She had a fatal accident caused by a truck overtaking and hitting the motorcycle she was riding at the back seat.
She was known to many of her friends for her smiles. She was known to the students as "Miss from Convent" (SJC in Kalimpong). She was known in the family as tata, and for her disciplines she kept.
She studied in St. Joseph's Convent in Kalimpong, did her +2 in St Xavier's College in Pakyong, Sikkim. She continued her studies in Ascol College in Kathmandu with Science and then finished her education with an MBA from Sanker Dev Campus in Kathmandu.
She worked as a ticketing agent in a private airline for few years and then went on with teaching in GEMS school. She was teaching in a secondary school before the accident.
This site is for those friends out in the world who have known her as a close friend, colleague, family and a school teacher. There will be more presentation of her old pictures and video slide show put up in the near future.
Ratna will be remembered for her hard working colleague, caring sister and a close friend and this site is to remain as a memory.
Rest In Peace

This is an innovative way to remember your sister.
Although I am not familiar with your family, I think she was really a RATNA of your family, relatives and friends circle. I remember the day I met her in Kirtipur. She came to Kirtipur to give something to bring to you Suva. I was in hurry and I couldn't talk to her more. Unfortunately that was the first and last time I saw her.
Ratna was more than just a wonderful person, I will always remember her smile.
This is very tragic accident that happened in your family. I want to express my deepest sympathy.
Suva, you and your family have my greatest sympathy, and my heart is truly saddened.

Well what else to share about Ratna dju...she is always alive in our heart. I want to share that moment when i first tried Ratna dd on my bike when she and other family members visited Phurping and since it was already late, there weren't any local vehicles riding on the street except one private picnic bus. Ratna dd refused to climb the bus instead she proposed me whether i could give her a lift and that day she told me "Surendra, i am not used to ride the bike so be careful hai while driving....."
We were completely shocked at the suddeness of the demise of Dear Ratna.May God give her eternal rest and may her soul rest in peace!
Regards
Surendra.
Ratna was my best friend since school. I had called her few months back that too after so many years but could not talk to her much as she was on the road. I regret not calling her again as I was desperate to talk to her.
my advice to everyone the moment something tiggers at your heart act at once for you might never know that it might be the divine moment . I had so many things to talk to her , but now I will tell Jesus cause HE alone can convey my message to her.
Yours in Christ
Sangeetha Gupta.

My condolences to Ratna's family.
God Bless!
