August 14, 2008 was the dark day in one of the Shakya families near Swyambhu, Kathmandu, Nepal. Miss Ratna Tara Shakya - a daughter, a sister, a teacher and most of all, an inspiration to all - left us all in the peaceful journey to eternity. She had a fatal accident caused by a truck overtaking and hitting the motorcycle she was riding at the back seat.
She was known to many of her friends for her smiles. She was known to the students as "Miss from Convent" (SJC in Kalimpong). She was known in the family as tata, and for her disciplines she kept.
She studied in St. Joseph's Convent in Kalimpong, did her +2 in St Xavier's College in Pakyong, Sikkim. She continued her studies in Ascol College in Kathmandu with Science and then finished her education with an MBA from Sanker Dev Campus in Kathmandu.
She worked as a ticketing agent in a private airline for few years and then went on with teaching in GEMS school. She was teaching in a secondary school before the accident.
This site is for those friends out in the world who have known her as a close friend, colleague, family and a school teacher. There will be more presentation of her old pictures and video slide show put up in the near future.
Ratna will be remembered for her hard working colleague, caring sister and a close friend and this site is to remain as a memory.
Rest In Peace
